She’s a brick and I’m falling slowly.

So last minute me and my main man DJ bought bamboozle tickets for 30 dollars. Fast-forward to the crowd. Filled with trashy moms waiting for Bon Jovi. Four songs in they were running for the hills. By the time Brand New started playing sink they had almost all vanished for fear of passing out and or puking. All in all Brand New in my opinion made a statement. The set was the opposite of what everyone I spoke to expected. As stupid as this sounds the statement they made to me was “We do this”. They took the stage and just blasted through track by track. Jesse was all over the place, on the floor, jumping around. Wound up throwing his Jazzmaster over the drum set. While vinny smashed his guitar into Brian’s bass drum. Among those highlights were also Jesse and Vin laying on the floor together. Jesse’s stage banter. Jesse singing over a minute of You Wont Know with his face covered by a towel. And the final moments of that same song where over the screen you could see Jesse’s mouth trembling as he screamed to the thousands on hand. It confirmed to me the fact that Brand New is the single most important band to come from this scene. They simply are unrivaled. What they create is untouchable. Tonight was just a reminder/message to all the other bands out there that this is what they do and this is why they have the cult status they have cultivated. This was my 11th time seeing brand new. This was the most impactful performance I have seen. Maybe not the best. But most impactful.
He has been saying the same thing for the past 5 years. Brand New never rehearses to begin with and thats been on the record since The Devil and God came out. They never write songs together they always do it in pieces. Which is what he said happened in April. Their family has been the primary concern for years. They also have a stronger relationship than ever. Jesse has been saying that cant do this forever for years, since Daisy came out. Just because they won’t put out a full album for a while doesn’t mean they won’t put out music in some sort of capacity anytime soon. Also they have been touring sporadically for two years. No long tours, just shows, which is absolutely fine. When you’re in your 30’s who wants to drive around in a bus/van for months at a time…exactly…you are all freaking out over nothing. Even if they did break up you still got more good albums and shows than most fans of other bands get.Keep it together.

Brand New was more intense than ever last night.
I’m not complaining, Jesse was still adorable even with a towel on his head.

When you ride with me in my car, you have two options: Listen to Brand New's entire discography or listen to "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" on repeat.
